Sewer line repair and camera inspection

See the pipe before you pay to dig it up. We camera the line, show you the footage, and explain every repair option, including trenchless where it fits.

Warning signs

Your sewer line may be asking for help

Main-line clogs keep coming backIf clearing it only buys a few months, the pipe itself is usually the problem.
Several drains gurgle or run slowTrouble on the main line shows up across the house, not at one sink.
Sewage smell or wet spots outsideA soggy patch in the yard or a smell by the cleanout can point to a break. Call soon.
Buying or selling an older homeLateral lines from the 1970s and 1980s deserve a look before closing.
Camera inspection

Know before you dig

A camera on a flexible cable runs through your sewer line and shows us cracks, roots, offsets, sags and buildup in real time.

  1. Access the lineThrough a cleanout, a vent, or a fixture.
  2. Run the cameraWe find problems and note where they are.
  3. Review it with youYou see the footage, not just a verbal description.
  4. Get options in writingWith a clear next step, which may be nothing at all.
The camera can say "your line is fine." That answer is worth knowing too, and we will tell you if no repair is needed.

Why older lines fail

Clay, cast iron, Orangeburg and roots

Homes from the 1970s and 1980s often have clay, cast iron or, in some cases, Orangeburg pipe in the lateral to the street. Each can crack, sag, corrode or open at joints over time, and roots exploit even tiny gaps. This is common in homes of that age, not a guarantee about any one house, which is exactly why we look with a camera before recommending anything.

Questions

Sewer line FAQ

How do I know if my sewer line is damaged?

Common signs are repeated main-line clogs, gurgling drains, slow drains throughout the house, sewage smells outdoors, or soggy spots in the yard. A camera inspection is the way to confirm what is happening inside the pipe.

What is trenchless sewer repair?

Trenchless methods repair or replace a sewer line without digging up the whole length of it. Two common approaches are lining the existing pipe and pulling in a new pipe as the old one is broken apart. Whether they are an option depends on the condition and layout of your line, and the camera tells us.

Will you have to dig up my yard?

Sometimes, but often much less than people fear. Where the damage is in one spot, a spot repair needs only a small excavation. We show you the footage and explain which method fits before any digging.

Should I inspect the sewer line before buying a home?

If the home was built in the 1970s or 1980s, it is worth it. A camera inspection costs a fraction of a surprise sewer replacement and can be used in negotiation.

Does homeowners insurance cover sewer line repair?

It depends on your policy and the cause of the damage. Check with your insurance agent. We can provide the camera footage and a written findings summary to support a claim.
